Working at Boomaroo
At Boomaroo we believe a healthy, engaged workforce is a productive workforce. We have implemented a Health & Wellbeing program that engages employees to consider healthier options in their lives, contributing to a positive culture.
We value the input of our people in analysing Boomaroo’s strengths and weaknesses so that we can further our ability to achieve our business goals. We strive to promote a positive work environment through proactive communications, training and development and we have a strong focus on ensuring that we develop future leaders for our industry.
As well as encouraging our people to engage with growers, suppliers and business partners, we ask them to connect with and support our local communities. Employee volunteering is an integral part of Boomaroo Nurseries’ corporate social responsibility program. Through volunteering, we are able to learn new skills and gain new perspectives, which in turn helps to drive a high performance and innovative culture.
Boomaroo Nurseries prides itself on its family history, the people embedded in the business and our partnership approach at all levels of the supply chain.
Our people are vitally important and possess the skills, expertise and experience needed to provide a high quality product that is supported by a high quality service. To achieve our business goals, we rely on the knowledge, experience and teamwork of our people. From growing expertise to integrated pest management, chemical control, auditing, seed control, industrial relations, production processes, quality assurance, transport, distribution, sales and occupational health and safety, our skill base is both broad and diverse. Our people have a wide range of backgrounds and diverse skillsets that contribute to the quality of our products and service.
We also collaborate with universities to employ graduates for our Graduate Program in order to grow the expertise of young people in the industry, supporting both Boomaroo and the industry in general.
As head of master planning, Peter’s role is often described as the most flexible position within the nursery, operating as a critical point of communication between the sales staff and our growers to manage workflow across all seed, sowing and germination processes in the nursery.
Peter is a highly skilled quality control and production manager, transferring 15 years of experience in Europe’s stainless steel industry into the management of Boomaroo’s state-of-the-art sowing line. Adaptability is a core trait that is essential to all roles at Boomaroo Nurseries and whilst Peter is new to horticulture, his expertise in problem solving is perfectly suited for commercial nursery life.
Forward thinking and customer service drive Peter to excellence within his role, seeing beyond the world class machinery to place equally high value on relationship development and effective internal communication. Peter’s attitude towards teamwork and cooperative leadership is a trait that can be found across the entire business and is a key factor in Boomaroo’s market presence as Australia’s number one vegetable seedling supplier.
