NAB Agri-business of the Year Awards.
Boomaroo Nurseries is very proud to announce we were nominated for the "Australian Agri-business of the Year 2007" and make it through to the final 5 of the awards. We were very grateful to have been nominated by one of our valued supply chain partners, Bayer Crop Science, who proudly supply us with Confidor the product we use to protect a large number of our lettuce growers crops, against the Nasanovia Lettuce Aphid.
Many of the Boomaroo Nurseries key staff members attended and had a great time; it was really great to see every one enjoying themselves on the night. Renee Jensch our seedling supervisor, and Candice Raeside our Greenlife growing Manager, were interviewed by the ABC's Country Wide program and by all reports made an admirable television debut.
The night itself was a gala affair, with many key figures attending from the wider agricultural community, but there were also a number of key vegetable industry figures attending. We invited Frank and Angela Ruffo from Tripod farmers one of our key coloured lettuce customers to attend, and they joined with us on the table with Bayer. On the night we also caught up with Russell and Tina Lamattina from A & G Lamattina and Sons at Rosebud who were attending as guests of another key industry group. We also caught up with Oliver Dragonavic the National Tomato Product Manager for Costa's fresh produce in Melbourne.
In the end we did not win in the category for which we were nominated, which was "Australian Agri-business of the Year", but we were still proud to be nominated and would like to thank Bayer for their support in nominating us, and to the NAB for making the awards possible, along with all of the work carried out by the organizers on the night.
SA Grower Wins National Award
Dino Musolino was named as the NAB Agribusiness Grower of the year at the 2007 Vegetable Industry Conference held in Sydney in May.
Dino has been a valued client of Boomaroo for many years and has lead the way in SA with processing and value adding in his hydroponic business. Dino thanked his family, who are now involved in all facets of the business and are now into the third generation of growing in the vegetable industry. He also gave special recognition to his Farm Manager Domenic Tripodi who has been invaluable to the success of the business.
Dino's focus is on innovation and as a result, he is among the leading hydroponic lettuce growers in Australia through his venture Hi-Tech Hydroponics Group. He was a winner of the South Australian Premier's Service to Industry Achievement Award in 2004. The company markets a range of ready to eat packs such as salads, stir fries and lettuces.
Congratulations Dino !
