Boomaroo Nurseries are pleased to announce the release of its latest exclusive product range,

"ECO Seedlings"

Boomaroo Nurseries identified that the fast growing baby leaf industry needed to be able to reliably supply product year round to their customers. Growers were finding the direct seeded crops were proving difficult to supply in the southern summers and winters due to weed and disease pressures.

Boomaroo Nurseries then developed the concept of low priced "ECO Seedlings". They are designed to provide seedling quality lettuce product, whilst reducing some of the problems associated with direct seeding. "ECO Seedlings" also require less production area over winter and reduced water use over summer, whilst providing increased yields over direct seeded crops.

"ECO Seedlings" are small seedlings, ideally 25 - 50 mm tall, planted at high densities at a young age to prevent any leaf death between the seedlings. The ideal plant population was found to be 80 plants per metre.

"ECO Seedlings" have, in commercial trials over the past 12 months, proven themselves in soil types from sand to river flats, giving yields around 25% higher than direct seeding, and with the possibility of a 2nd cut.
